Project Description
The beach house was built at Fire Island Pines, on the highest dune of the 26-mile-long barrier island. The living spaces are on the second floor, capturing panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Great South Bay .
The design is based on a ten-foot cubic grid organizing a variety of interior and exterior spaces, including a screen porch, roof decks, and a projecting dining room. The white-trimmed and weathered gray colors relate to the local vernacular of houses and boardwalks. Winner of Design Award of Honor in 2004 from the New York Council of the Society of American Registered Architects.
